The Garmin Summer Series is organised by SailRacer, mainly as General Handicap races. This was announced after I had finalised our 2014 fixtures, so it was too late to incorporate into the 2014 programme. The idea is that smaller fleets attend the Garmin Summer Series and results are extracted as appropriate. I think that we should consider using the Garmin Summer Series in our 2015 Programme (should it be successful and is held in 2015), and would be grateful to have your views on this to inform the AGM in August. This saves the smaller fleets from having to organise their own open meetings and Championships. You will see from the events in the following table that our Nationals (SailFest at Calshot Activity Centre) are already part of this series. I have agreed with SailRacer that I will publicise the Garmin Summer Series through our website and notes to members. There is some clashing with our own fixtures in 2014, though this could avoided in 2015. The first event is at Carsington SC in Derbyshire on 11 May, which may suit our Midlands and Northern helms. Results in the Garmin Summer Series (apart from the Nationals) won’t count for our 2014 Traveller’s Series, but if sufficient Bytes attend to qualify then SailRacer may provide separate prizes.
